We all know that fitting in exercise can be challenging. But it's well worth the effort - being active has so many benefits including managing your weight and protecting you from chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke. Here are five simple tips from our exercise physiologists that can help you move more in your every day life.

1. Use your commute time

Travelling to work, university or the shops? Whenever you can, ditch the car or tram and use the time to walk, cycle or jog. If the distances are too long, you can walk/jog/cycle part of the way. It's a win win: you reach your destination and have some exercise under your belt.

2. Socialise on the move

Catching up with friends for pizza or dumplings? Change things up and take a walk round the park or the shops, a dance class or a game of tennis.    shutterstock 652111774

3. Limit screen time

Tablets, phones and television can take up a lot of our free time. Before you know it, one hour has passed and you've been scrolling aimlessly through your friend's Bali pics! Set a timer and allow yourself 20 minutes. Then use the remaining time to stretch, clean or walk around the block.

4. Workout while you wait

Many parents spend a lot of time waiting on the sidelines at sporting practise. Bring your sneakers and go for a power walk – it's also a great way to show your kids that exercise is important!

5. Sign up for an event

Want to run 10km or do a mini triathlon? Having an event to aim for can focus the mind and motivate you to train. Rope in a friend too and you have a training buddy to keep you on track when the couch is calling.

We would recommend working in the plumbing industry lol.
Working at keeps us fit. We often labour carrying challenging weights over distance, always safely of course.
We always need to crouch and conform to small spaces in people’s homes when we fix their drainage issues. We fee sorry office workers sitting all day. It cannot be healthy. Come join the plumber industry and be healthier ???
