Diabetes Victoria offers organisations FREE sessions on how to prevent type 2 diabetes, along with the opportunity to deliver a Life! course within the workplace. Life! sessions can be delivered before work, incorporated into lunch time or after hours. We will work with organisations to tailor the course to find the best fit for their workplace and staff. A suitable room will be required for each session.
Workers will engage in goal setting activities and be given the tools to make manageable and sustainable changes to reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes. There are five group sessions that equip participants with the skills, knowledge, support and expert advice needed to adopt healthier lifestyle habits, with the aim of reducing their risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
"The Life! program was a success at Braeside and it definitely made a real difference to the majority who participated. It's amazing the positive impact it has on your health by cutting out fat and moving your body (exercise)," Operations Manager Scott Henderson, BlueScope Steel.
The Life! team has worked with many workplaces to improve staff health and wellbeing.
Yarra Trams - We worked with Yarra Trams to provide diabetes prevention sessions to its employees. This has been a great sucess with a huge amount of positive feedback from Yarra Trams staff. Read more about the venture here.

Create a healthier workplace with the Achievement Program
The Achievement Program will help you create a healthier workplace. This can have a huge impact on the lives of your workforce and help to reduce an individual’s risk of developing chronic diseases, like cancer and type 2 diabetes.
The initiative provides workplaces with a framework, tools, resources and training to improve health and wellbeing by making long-term changes to culture and policies.
Members are encouraged to meet best-practice standards (‘benchmarks’) for good health in areas including healthy eating, physical activity, mental health and wellbeing. The Victorian Government provides recognition to workplaces that meet these ‘benchmarks’.
